The world is in a continuous state of change and transformation. Alchemy tried to accelerate and harness change, to make the base pure. The earth’s movement around the sun brings on the change of seasons Hormones are a catalyst for physiological changes in the body. I feel that my work is a part of this.
Throughout my life, I have had the feeling that nature was very much alive and responding to me. As a kid, I would spend hours each day playing outdoors. From using water hoses to change the paths of ants, to throwing rocks and taunting the ocean, these early experiences harnessed an enormously vital relationship and helped shape my development as an artist.
In my current body of work, I explore what happens when I insert something into or obstruct something in a pre-existing system or operation and see how it readjusts itself to the change. I am in constant interplay with the world, and my work is an active collaboration with these natural processes.
